Text coloring

Philipp Jul 06, 2017 10:47AM PDT

Hello Outline Team,

I wanted to ask wether I am to stupid to use the text coloring tool or is the black missing? The bottom right color is a really dark grey which is annoying because if I colored anything I cannot return to black. The color meter says also it is a dark grey, so my eyes don't lie. A color picking tool would be very appreciated, but a black color would be enough for the moment, or a manual how to change it back to black; real black, the #000000 black.

Regards, Philipp.

Hello Philipp,

please let me know, do you use Outline for iPad or for Mac?

I recently bought the Mac version. Using it on a MacBook Pro 15 Late 2016 (upgraded 2017).

Philipp, the thing is that the "black" color option can be a bit grayed out because of transparency of the pop-over with colors.

What does color meter show when you check the color of the text on the page?

The meter shows #454545, but I can clearly see the difference between the black and this grey color. Just type some text, make it bold and color one half in this grey you will see it too. I tested it first one my not-so-good external display, but it's the same on the Mac display and this is a damn good one. So in side to side comparison the real black text is #000000. Non an inch away it is #454545. Have you any intel on the definition of this color in the Outline code? My assumption is of course that this should be black :)

Philipp, we have done a small research and found out that there were some ambiguity with the PhotoShop color scheme at the time we designed Outline for Mac. So, you are right. And also the only user who has noticed this :)

Thanks for drawing our attention to this issue. We will see what we can do about it in our future releases.

Thank you!
