Outline Crashes When Opening with Local/Dropbox/Box Option (macOS Mojave)

Andrew Pedley Sep 23, 2018 03:01PM PDT

Hi,

I'm not sure if you are aware, but I wanted to let you know just in case you don't know. I am using the latest macOS version, macOS Mojave 10.14, so I am sure it's because of that, but Outline crashes and quits upon trying to open a notebook by hitting the plus button to open a local/dropbox/box notebook.

Thanks! And thank you for still engaging with your customers on here!
Andrew

Quick update since I just discovered this: it is actually crashing when I try to open any notebook.

Hey Andrew,
thank you for your info!
Were you able to open them on Mojave 10.14 before?
That would be great if you could open your notebooks in OneNote, if you have an access to Windows somewhere. Usually OneNote repairs notebooks on its own and Outline stops crashing. Can you do that? Please let us know!

Hi,

Yes, I was able to open them before macOS Mojave 10.14. I am actually still able to open them if I drag the folder containing the notebook files into Outline, but no options are working to open a notebook, including going to File>Open Notebook, which crashes Outline. I do not have access to Windows at the moment, unfortunately.

It is also crashing and quitting when I try to create a new notebook it quit when I tried to put in a destination location for the file). I believe the crashing has something to do with the finder.

I have recorded my screen showing the crashing (uploaded as unlisted to YouTube): https://youtu.be/VNom_9RK2C4

Thank you,
Andrew

Same problem here. To view my notebooks, I have drag my notebook folders into the library/Outline folder, where the user guide is stored. This helps to keep taking notes, but I cannot synchronize now. Hope there will be an update soon.

update of Outline crash problem: I found that not only adding a notebook the Outline will crash, but adding anything from outside with "+" button, will crash the Outline.

Hey David,
we have already updated standalone version of Outline. If you bought it on our website, please check if your App is up-to-date. If you made a purchase through AppStore, we'll need a couple of days more to fix it. Thank you for your patience!
